The Beaver Festival brought much new interest of our little furry friends. The dam area was swarming with people on Sun. night and I was repeatedly hearing the words beaver festival . Thank you CC. Times. I’m wondering if the cute beaver costume picture in the article brought more attention than just the written  announcement of the event.

We did see all four kits and 1 yearling. The yearling even made an attempt to climb the steep bank. I say attempt because he made it half way up and kerplunk! he fell back in the creek with a big splash. He gave up and went over the dam to feed instead. It was a flurry of little beavers splashing and fighting in the cove. We couldn’t tell who was coming or going.

When we first arrived we were able to sneak up on the 2 juvenile Little Green Herons. You can stll see the down on this ones head.
